Crystal Light Engine Blender Exporter
A downloadable tool
Welcome to the itch page for my Blender add-on for exporting sprites as needed for the Crystal Light Engine, by Kazan Games/Foxy Of Jungle. Note that this is referring to a lighting engine specifically for Gamemaker. The engine uses several texture maps for rendering lighting similar to 3d engines and if you want to use Blender to pre-render 3d models into sprites this add-on will help you get the other sprites you need, all automatically.
Crystal has two primary material types, a phong shader, and a BRDF one (PBR). The add-on supports both. It sets up a preview material that tries to emulate what you might see in game, along with the other materials needed for rendering. Then you just modify the textures, or the node groups (if you like procedural materials with Blender's node system), and then just export, and the system handles rendering based on the resolution and frame settings you have set up. You then import these into Gamemaker for use with Crystal. It even automatically sets up transparency and sets the film filter to nothing for the normal maps(for best results).
It also contains a couple automatic camera setups (top-down and front view) that are commonly used for 2d games. This is optional, and the system lets you use whatever camera you want, including even a perspective one.
Finally, as Crystal is set up to work with only parts of materials as needed (for example if you choose to not supply AO or something else), you can easily choose to only export the maps you need.
